Comparative study of child poverty: NI and ROI

Save the children 1

This comparative study of child poverty rates, explored the rates and determinants of child poverty in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

It also compared policy responses in both jurisdictions and the evidence for their effectiveness in reducing child poverty.

This was largely a desk-based exercise that drew on academic and grey literature from both jurisdictions. These were supported by a small number of interviews with key informants. The research also included a review of the international evidence on the most effective stategies to reduce child poverty. A final aim of the research is to explore opportunities for future research on child poverty policy in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
